Mass Deportation

posted Nov 29, 2016, 6:26 PM by Daniel Laurison

Trump is proposing a deportation program modeled after “Operation Wetback” from President Eisenhower’s administration. Operation Wetback was estimated to deport close to a million of Mexican immigrants, but Trump’s plan would involve 11 million undocumented immigrants, many of whom aren’t from Mexico or Latin America. In order to be successful, police would have to participate and could potentially lead to racial profiling. Deportation on this level would require billions and would not guarantee every undocumented immigrant will be apprehended. Congress must approve of his actions first but I’m not sure if the Supreme Court will declare it constitutional.
